So what makes for a proper husband and father? The contents of this blog and I have been on this path of discovery since 2008. In the meantime I may as well share the recipe for this quick meal pictured above. Quick meals work when:
- you've got a house filled with hungry ones
- if you're like me your creativity is blown by the time you get to the kitchen
- you don't have a lot of time to make dinner and you aren't the fastest cook in the world
Turkey and Chicken Sausage Stir Fry Recipe:
Ingredients:- 1 Pack Organic Turkey Chorizo
- 1 Pack organic Chicken Sausage (you can get this and the chorizo virtually anywhere these days, especially local Famer's Markets)
- Small Red, yellow and orange peppers (2-3 of each)
- 1 head of organic Broccoli
- Udon Noodles
- Low-sodium Soy Sauce
- Hoisin Sauce
- Sesame Oil
Meal Prep:
- Grill/Sautée the turkey and chicken sausage FIRST and slice into pieces of your desired thickness
- Cut up the peppers into lengthwise slices
- Fillet the broccoli into florets
Time To Cook:
Step 1:
- Add 2 tablespoons of Sesame Oil into a hot wok
- Add Hoisin sauce and let it bubble up then simmer down
- Pour the mix into a bowl and set aside
Step 2:
- Add 2 tablespoons of Sesame Oil into your wok
- Add peppers and broccoli and toss for a couple minutes making sure not to overcook (and destroy the nutritional value of the veggies)
- Add the Udon noodles until they get a slight glassy look
- Add the chopped sausage and toss for another minute to 2 minutes tops
- Add soy sauce to your preference and add-in stir fry sauce you set aside in Step 1.
- Toss one last time and serve in large bowls
Total time: 30 minutes tops if you stay in the kitchen and don't get distracted by the television or your dog (as I do).
Total Cost: $14 - $20 depending on where you shop for ingredients
Serves: 4
